At the end of 2022 we were wrapping up a series of workshops led by National Geographic to connect young HK students to the island’s unique marine biodiversity. They had been on field trips, learned about conservation and now they were invited to put their experience to music..specifically a rap song to celebrate the Ocean and how to care for it. Drum Studio was the perfect partner to bring this project to its grand finale! The process unlocked the kids’ creativity so that they could write their own rhymes under the expert guidance of the team. Within the timespan of a few hours I witnessed their awkwardness giving way to complete confidence and enjoyment in expression, performance and collaboration. The video speaks for itself and stands as a message of hope for our mission to “illuminate and protect the wonders of the world”. Thank you to (name whole team) we are lucky to have Drum Studio open its doors to us and not only show us how the magic happens but allow us to be a part of it!

Let’s put aside the fact that the team was totally starstruck by the grandmasters of hip hop as the facilitators of that day.

What truly blew me away was how rap and music brought our teams closer together while exercising our creativity. Even though our colleagues see each other day to day, Eddie and his team, through writing a rap song together, helped us break out from our shyness, laugh with one another, loudly rap out our daily stress (it was cathartic), and overall, just made us feel comfortable.

Believe me when I say that all my colleagues couldn’t wait to get our song and music video back from Eddie. To date, everyone keeps showing one another, friends and family, the masterpiece we created.
